Windshield, Throwout Bearing, and Catalytic Converter

The windshield was removed yesterday so it could be replaced and they found some rust that needs to be repaired before the new one is put in. He also worked some more on the front cowl and did some welding on the front. The car is now on the lift so he can weld underneath.

On saturday I replaced the throwout bearing and also installed the highflow cat. The project turned from a 2 hour job to an entire day because the tranny jack died. We ended up having to rebuild it. This was one of those tranny jacks for the lift.

Front is Welded

Installing all the fasteners on the black front was a lot harder than planned. There are 4 nuts that needed to be added to the ’83 front so the airbox could be mounted. These nuts were welded from the inside of the framerails.

Engine Pictures

I haven’t cleaned any of the engine yet or painted but here is what it is looking like today.

I replaced the inner fender on the passenger side because at some point it was almost completely cut out.  My guess is to access the starter easier? You can see why I need to rewire the truck.

I was able to find a really clean rust free inner fender at the salvage yard.  I then sanded and repainted it.

Fuel System Work

Last night I replaced the fuel sending unit (and pickup), fuel pump, and fuel filter in the work parking lot. I was having a problem with the truck stalling on the way in to work on tuesday. The problem turned out to be the fuel pump even though it was only 4 months old.

I also installed the rear emblems and reflectors.
