Salvage Yard Run 2

I went to the salvage yard on Friday and got a good hood and wiper arms.  The hood needs to be stripped (painted with a brush) but it is otherwise in great shape.  My existing hood is dented at the front edge and filled with bondo.  Also the hood has a section of the supports cut out.

I picked up a new rear sliding window seal a week ago at the clip house.  I hope to get this installed soon.

Rear Wheel Well Rust

The car is back up on the lift so we can finish the underside. The rust in the rear fender wells is worse than we originally thought. He started tapping the rust (what we thought was just a couple of quarter size holes) with a very small hamer and the hose started getting bigger.

This section isn’t bad on this side.

That lighter colored material behind the rust is actually paper on the inside of the car.

Windshield Ready for Install

The rust around the windshield is fixed finally.

I took this pic before he painted the beige. He had two rust holes to fix and it was basically bubbling rust all the way around the frame. He painted two coats of primer and two coats of beige. There is no way this will rust again.

The windshield will go in today.

Salvage Yard Run

I picked up a chrome front bumper. The chrome is in fairly good shape for its age and will be a huge improvement over the painted bumper. I also picked up pieces I was missing for my sliding rear window. As soon as I get them installed, I will be able to lock and seal my rear window the way ford intended.

Front Suspension Started

I installed the strut rod/sway mounts. I still need to pull the control arms and replace those bushings. Once I do that I can finish the suspension. The strut rod mounts, etc. were sandblasted, primed, and painted with Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black.
